What have you learned about filmmaking/progressed your skills from Preliminary to Final Film?

At the beginning of our Preliminary filmmaking, we filmed with a lower quality camera which reduced the look of our practise footage. However, as it was practise footage so we were able to play around with the editing more. Also, in our Preliminary, we didn't use any external actors, the ones that we did use were in our group, whereas in our Final Film we used Liam as an external actor. With our Final Film, we tried to correct our mistake in our Preliminary filmmaking, by using a higher quality camera, however this was still bad quality and we reshot most of this footage when we travelled to Canary Wharf, London. Fortunately, we were very happy with the result as the lighting on the day gave clearer shots and a more professional look to our Final Film. The rest of our final film was unfortunately filmed with a lower quality camera so it looked bad quality in comparison to the footage we filmed in London.

PROCESS OF FILMING

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?

When we first started filming, we used the school's professional camera, which was of surprisingly bad quality when we converted the tape. Therefore, the next time we filmed we used my small handheld camera which was of a better quality when we converted it. The small camera was also easier to carry around and attach/detach to the camera stand. This was especially useful for when we filmed in London.

I have learnt from using the software that I can enhance footage to fit in with the thriller genre such as changing the filters and adding a suspenseful soundtrack. Being able to use the software that I used, I have advantages to getting jobs that need to use that technology. I also have advantages with other projects that need those software.

Favourite TV would be TV series such as Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead etc. or Talent shows such as The X Factor etc. Favourite films would be comedies, thrillers and action-packed films.

Would they watch independent films or mainstream?

Unless a fan of indie type films, this age group would go to the cinema to watch mainstream films and watch independent films online because independent films tend to sell an experience but a story.

An independent media institution might distribute my media product such as a local newspaper. They may do this for money or if the specific media promotes a company or town.

What does a production company do?
A production company essentially helps to create the film - it assists in the budgeting, scheduling, scripting, casting and more. The company usually looks over the film from when its just an idea to completion. They are responsible for finding a director and the majority of acting talent required. However they are also responsible if anything were to go wrong on the film, for example and actor being injured or properly being damaged.

The idea of a film Distributor and who that might be and why.

Film Distribution Association works with many individuals, companies and organisations.

Where the money might have come from for a film such as yours

Money may come from funding raised by the production company or money taken as a loan.

Why the various people are named in the titles- which jobs appear in titles and in what order and how have you reflected this?

People are named in opening credit titles to show who was involved as without titles nobody would get the credit they deserve.

Unfortunately the video was uploaded in bad quality however the concept is still there. I made the music on GarageBand and added the foley later on. I changed the production animation to fit in more with our thriller title sequence. I also had to change the lighting so the change from day to night isn't so dramatic. Towards the end of the title sequence, we used a different camera, which created low quality footage. Although I hope that our main idea is put across.

CHARACTER COMPARISON

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

• Pick a key character from your opening. Take a screengrab of a reasonable sized image of them. 
• Think of one or more characters from other films with some similarity to them (but maybe some differences too!), find an image on the web of that/those characters and grab it as well. 
• Drop the two into Photoshop, as a split screen. Export this splitscreen image as a jpeg then drop onto your blog and describe the similarities and differences in terms of appearance, costume, role in film etc.

So for example if you have a lone cop type character, look for other stereotypes of lone cops to compare him with...
